The Body Shop Home Fragrance Oils

I love scented candles, but with brands like Dipytque and Neom selling candles for ££40 plus it can sometimes feel like you are literally burning money. So how do you get heavenly scented rooms without spending a lot? I may have found the answer...
Whenever I walk past The Body Shop I am always lured in by the smell, whether it be strawberry or satsuma, it always smells amazing. I have never really paid much attention to their home fragrance section in my local Body Shop but whilst browsing the other day I happened to see the fragrant oils are £4! The collection is really varied, with fresh scents to warm, musky deep fragrances. All you need to use these little beauties is an oil burner, a little water and a tea light.

I picked up 'satsuma', a warm zesty fruity scent, after using this for only 20 minutes my entire house smelt incredible, You will find this little bottle lasts ages too as you only need a few drops each use.

The Home Post: Ikea Love

Up until just before I got married I had never been to IKEA, I know right... how it took me twenty years I have no idea. In the car on my first ever IKEA expedition you could say I was pretty excited, you could even say I was ecstatic. Since then I have been back several times to feed my Swedish meatball addiction and to look at all the lovely home bits. On the last trip we picked up a few things for the bedroom which included a real Mad Men 60's style side table, it was the Lovbacken side table and it was £40, we got to the section where you go and find your beloved item all flat packed and they had run out! So after going back to the beginning and begging the lady in the lounge department we ended up walking away with the display table for £28 and it had already been built, result!

We also picked up these lovely perfume bottles for the bathroom but decided they looked nicer on the new table, the pack of three was around £8, money spent I thought. Another purchase was the lovely pink mug for a weeny £1.70, it makes the perfect house for fresh flowers.

I can't wait for the next trip to IKEA, just need an excuse to go now, and if you were wondering the candle pictured is Clean Cotton and it smells incredible. 

Vintage Crate

I love eBay, it is a brilliant way of saving money. I actually used eBay alot for all my wedding table and room decorations which saved us tons. So when it came to making a house a home what better place to shop than eBay! I have been looking for a vintage fruit crate for ages after seeing one in Luca’s mums kitchen filled with all her cookery books, I looked online and in shabby chic independent shops and they were going for ridiculous amounts (like £30!!!) I even went to local green grocers to try and get an un-used one, but I had no such luck.

So after spending half an hour or so going through the eBay listings I found the one! it was £12 for the crate including postage which is great as its pretty heavy! It is from 1960 and was used for fruit and veg. It came within a few days so I got to work on how best to use it. After looking for inspiration on Pinterest I found a picture of a crate being used as a bed side table! So after playing around with our bedroom layout and filling it with books it was ready! Doesn’t it look lovely……

Pinterest is amazing for all sorts of inspiration, I really like the idea of having lots of mood boards, my favourite one has to be all the home wear and interior decorating pins. I’ve decided to try my hand at painting furniture and giving things the ‘shabby chic’ look.  I’m starting small on a little wooden set of drawers, if it goes well I will do a before and after post.
