Brick Lane Photo Diary

A trip to London isn't complete without popping into Rough Trade in East London and having a look around Brick Lanes famous vintage stores...

On a recent jaunt up to the big smoke to see the Fat White Family at the Electric Ballroom we managed to squeeze in a little time to check out Brick Lane, having been there before we had two things in mind that we wanted to do - go to Rough Trade and have a curry, I mean with all the curry houses there it would be rude not too!

We also stumbled upon a huge vintage basement full of stalls with rails packed with vintage gems, when it comes to thrift stores though Brick Lane doesn't come close when you compare it with Camden Town and Brighton Laines - the word overpriced comes to mind, although I did manage to pick up an absolute bargain, the sunglasses pictured above were in the sale for five pounds! We also purchased the 1982 classic 'Junkyard' LP by The Birthday Party which our collection was previously lacking.

Where is your favourite place to visit on a trip to London?

The Lifestyle Edit - Camden

Churros, Crystals and Cheap Jewellery... It could only be Camden...

A trip to London wouldn't be complete without stopping off in my favourite part of the capital - Camden. The street food alone is enough to entice anyone in but the vintage shops and stalls are some of my favourite places to pick up a second hand gem or two. This particular evening we hung out at the Electric Ballroom to see Fat White Family play.. they were insane by the way and the performance left the lead singer needing throat surgery - need I say more!

We also stopped off at The Diner for a bite to eat but that really deserves a post all of it's own.

Shop The Catwalk at London Fashion Weekend

As I mentioned yesterday on Sunday I went up to London for the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend, I had never been before so the whole experience was really inspiring, lots of the designers featured in the trend show were showcasing their most recent collections and they were available to buy. Iris and Ink was a real standout for me, their separates were so classic and versatile and the fabrics were so luxe, the pallet was monochrome with pops of bold colour. Another designer I loved was womenswear and accessories designer Amanda Wakeley, I really liked the jewellery, it had a real ethnic feel to it, with the use of semi precious stones such as agate, they were real statement pieces. London based designer duo Emma Gushlow and Katrina Cole also showcased their stunning Gushlow and Cole line with beautiful fur stoles and scarves, I literally wanted to take the entire rail home!

Did you have a favourite designer this year?

The Pull & Bear Jacket

I have been looking for a nice jacket for a while now, I wanted something that would easily work for winter and summer, I also wanted it to be something a little interesting whether that be in colour or texture. I came across this Pull and Bear jacket whilst shopping in Brighton some time ago, it is the perfect cross between a blazer and a jacket, it has that over sized boyfriend fit about it and the colour and texture is just what I had been searching for. This looks great layered over dresses and worn with my vintage fur. Although it is lightweight it is surprisingly warm making it perfect for nights out.

What looks have you been loving recently?

You Can Find Me in the Lanes.....

Once again I've taken far too many photos and can't seem to cut any out of this post! As I mentioned in my post about Brighton I did a fair bit of shopping in the famous Lanes recently...

The North Laines are full of lovely Vintage thrift stores if that kinda stuff is your cuppa tea, Snoopers Paradise is a haven for gorgeous pieces of Jewellery, clothing, and all sorts of beautifully restored furniture. I could really spend hours in here, my favourite part being the painted stairs (I will recreate this one day)

£5 for a Hawaiian shirt!! How are more men not rocking this amazing look!

Stunning decorations all over the place at Snoopers Attic and just look at this magical staircase.....

The wonderful Beyond Retro where I purchased a lovely Vintage floral playsuit and a pretty flower crown to add to my ever growing collection. This place is just perfect... I always find something that I want to take home with me, the selection of men and women's clothes, shoes, bags etc is huge. The prices are really good as well.

I think I need to start saving again for my next trip!!

By The Sea, By the Beautiful Sea

"By the sea,
By the sea,
By the beautiful sea,
You and me,
You and me,
Oh! How happy we'll be,

I love to be beside your side,
Beside the sea,
Beside the seaside,
By the beautiful sea."

Some Like it Hot

Making the most of July's beautiful weather Luca and I decided to head over to Brighton for the day for a spot of shopping. After conquering the Laines we had the biggest lunch ever at a lovely Mexican restaurant, and after getting ridiculously full we thought it was best to walk it off along the beach where we headed for the Pier.

I love Brighton Pier, there is something so magical about the busy atmosphere with the bright lights and bold colours of the rides and arcades, and when you turn to look back at the beach it is just the most amazing view.

Such a cute photograph above, I don't know if you can really get married on Brighton Pier but how cool would that be!!!

If you don't live local to Brighton but are thinking of planning a trip down here then I would say it is definitely worth it! There is so much to see and do.
