Where to Eat in London: The Diner - Camden

With Johnny Cash playing in the background and burgers to die for being served left right and centre, The Diner is definitely on my list of favourite places to eat in Camden...

Although nothing beats the street food stalls in Camden Lock, when you have spent the entire day shopping the idea of sitting down for dinner is incredibly appealing, so after a long stint of riffling through rack after rack of vintage clothes and records I decided to go find somewhere where I could grab a spot of dinner as well as a chair and that is when I came across The Diner - nestled in Jamestown Road just off the main street in Camden, the decor is a dark cherry red with leather seated booths and neon lights by the bar and the staff are equally as good looking.

Now for the food, I went for the BBQ Chicken Burger - pulled BBQ chicken with shredded lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise and BBQ sauce all sandwiched between a seeded bun. The chicken was tender and gorgeously flavoured, I also opted for a side of fries topped with melted cheese, cooked to perfection and piping hot these went down a treat. Luca chose the Grab Burger, classic American cheeseburger packed with two burger patties and covered in burger sauce I think it is safe to say he enjoyed it!

Have you ever eaten at The Diner? Where is your place to go for a good old burger?

Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter

Dressing for Autumn is a lot easier than Summer, the jeans can come out in full force along with all those cosy winter layers, here is an outfit I put together for a lazy Sunday afternoon, details below...

I treated myself to a new pair of classic black jeans for this Autumn, I first saw the Asos Ridley Jeans on Alix from I Covet Thee, she wore them in a recent blog post with a checked shirt and I just loved the rips and the fit of them, they are high waisted and super comfy so I can definitely see myself getting a lot of wear out of these! The Iron Maiden tee was an absolute steal from To Be Worn Again in Brighton, I love the black on black look of this outfit, a leather jacket would really toughen this look up, and also add that all important extra layer now it has started to get a little chilly in England.

What are your favourite pieces for Autumn?

Iron Maiden Top - To Be Worn Again, Brighton
Jeans - Asos Ridley Jeans
Shoes - H&M
Hat - Asos
Sunglasses - Brick Lane Vintage Shop
Necklace - Native Wolf

Brick Lane Photo Diary

A trip to London isn't complete without popping into Rough Trade in East London and having a look around Brick Lanes famous vintage stores...

On a recent jaunt up to the big smoke to see the Fat White Family at the Electric Ballroom we managed to squeeze in a little time to check out Brick Lane, having been there before we had two things in mind that we wanted to do - go to Rough Trade and have a curry, I mean with all the curry houses there it would be rude not too!

We also stumbled upon a huge vintage basement full of stalls with rails packed with vintage gems, when it comes to thrift stores though Brick Lane doesn't come close when you compare it with Camden Town and Brighton Laines - the word overpriced comes to mind, although I did manage to pick up an absolute bargain, the sunglasses pictured above were in the sale for five pounds! We also purchased the 1982 classic 'Junkyard' LP by The Birthday Party which our collection was previously lacking.

Where is your favourite place to visit on a trip to London?

Where To Eat: London

On my last trip to London I came across a lovely little bakery in Covent Garden called Peyton and Byrne on Wellington Street, the window display is filled with the most gorgeous looking cakes and sandwiches. There are a few branches dotted around London and if you are ever passing one I really recommend there hot chocolate, literally to die for! They have a large selection of homemade artisan breads, cakes and pastries and lots of different teas etc to choose from. Luca and I went for the Lemon Drizzle, Chocolate cake and a Strawberry cupcake, I can safely say they were some of the tastiest cakes I have ever eaten, my favourite was probably the Lemon Drizzle.

Have you ever eaten at a Peyton and Byrne cafe?

This Time Last Week #1

I thought it was about time I gave my blog a regular feature, and after some deliberation I have come up with 'This Time Last Week' a Sunday post where I talk about what I got up to the previous Sunday, now if I am honest my life on a Sunday isn't always that exciting but when it is I will be sure to blog about it. So this time last Sunday I was on a train making my way up to London for Vodafone's London Fashion Weekend, it was such a fun day, one of my favourite things about the whole experience was seeing all the amazing street styles. Some of the most inspiring looks were really out there, think big hats, cartoon style clutch bags and clashing prints and bold colours. I really feel like I need to get more experimental with my style and push those boundaries, I also couldn't resist including a snap of Luca as he was showcasing his latest vintage purchase, a cord bomber jacket from To Be Worn Again in Brighton.

Where do you look for fashion inspiration?

Southern Joe's

I love a good foodie post and if you are reading this pre lunch break it will definitely make all your little tummies rumble. I went up to London on Sunday for the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend, which by the way was amazing, lots of posts to come. As I had the boy with me we decided to head over to Covent Garden for lunch, after looking around for somewhere for a while we came across 'Southern Joe's' the building looked so stylish and the menu was enticing so in we went. After staring at the menu for ages I finally decided on the half chicken roasted under a brick - sounds interesting right? Luca went for the pulled pork bun with chips. The food was delicious and I really recommend Southern Joe's next time you are in London.

The London Diaries

There is still lots of photographs to share with you all from my recent trip to London, we fitted so much into our two days away, including checking out Portobello Market, Harrods and eating a lot of food! We also went to the Notting Hill carnival, Covent Garden, and Brick Lane. Click on the links to see my blog posts on these places.

Union Jacks - Covent Garden

Whilst in London, Luca took me out for dinner in Covent Garden. i had never been there before so i was really looking forward to it. After looking around and watching some street performances, we sat down at Union Jacks, Jamie Oliver's restaurant. The menu had a real British feel with steaks, fish and chips and homemade ginger beer. We both went for pizza, Luca had an onion and pork pizza and I went for the mushroom, both were lovely. We also ordered homemade cloudy lemonade which seems to be my favourite drink at the moment.

I can't wait to go back to Covent Garden, have you eaten at Union Jacks?
