Night Out Essentials

Big night out on the town planned? Add the following to your shopping list...

Heels... not really my forte if I am honest, I am pretty useless when it comes to high heels and nine times out of ten I opt for a more comfortable option, but on that odd special occasion I do love a good ASOS pair, the fit is always perfect and the range of styles available means you can find the ideal pair to go with any outfit, my current favourite pair are the ASOS Positive pointed black high heels, this style is incredibly classic and the curve design really elongates the legs. I will be truthful though, these are most definitely style over comfort, that burn you get after wearing heels for too long? Yep, these sure deliver on that -these babies will kill your feet.

If I am getting all dolled up for an evening out I always like to have big, bouncy hair with lots of volume, to achieve that I use the Living Proof Instant Texture Mist, this can be used to prep the hair pre blow dry or as a finishing spray. This plus a backcombing brush equals big hair, I like to keep everything in place with a truly classic styling product - the L'oreal Elnet Hairspray, available in a variety of hold levels means there is something for everyone. If I am working with freshly washed hair then I like to use a couple of Velcro rollers through my parting for added oomph.

Last of all on my list but certainly not least is a big, dramatic pair of false lashes. Currently I am loving the Eylure 212's, these are bold, black and very full. To secure in place I use the Duo Lash Glue in clear/white, a steady hand and a pair of tweezers. I find I always have to trim my lashes slightly to fit the shape of my eye so have a pair of scissors handy too. Youtube is great for tutorials on putting on falsies if you are a newbie.

So in summary I like big hair, big lashes and high heels, what are your must haves for a night out? Comment below.

OOTD - Blue Moon

Keeping it classic in Navy...

Navy is such a wearable colour I often consider it in the same category as monochrome, it is very classic and chic. I sometimes think I could live in this little ASOS number, it is such a flattering a-line shape and the crotchet texture adds a real bohemian vibe. I paired it with my New Look Blazer style coat, a Topshop satchel style bag and black pumps. This look is great for the transition into spring as the dress is super lightweight and has little short sleeves for if the weather is hot enough that you need to remove the jacket, it is also really easy to update this dress for dinner or drinks in the evening.

I kept my jewellery minimal with a gold charm necklace from Camden Market and vintage style coin studs from River Island, I also wore this statement ring that I picked up from Topshop in their most recent sale, the centre stone looks like Jade and is surrounded by pretty green gems.

How would you style this ASOS dress?

Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter

Dressing for Autumn is a lot easier than Summer, the jeans can come out in full force along with all those cosy winter layers, here is an outfit I put together for a lazy Sunday afternoon, details below...

I treated myself to a new pair of classic black jeans for this Autumn, I first saw the Asos Ridley Jeans on Alix from I Covet Thee, she wore them in a recent blog post with a checked shirt and I just loved the rips and the fit of them, they are high waisted and super comfy so I can definitely see myself getting a lot of wear out of these! The Iron Maiden tee was an absolute steal from To Be Worn Again in Brighton, I love the black on black look of this outfit, a leather jacket would really toughen this look up, and also add that all important extra layer now it has started to get a little chilly in England.

What are your favourite pieces for Autumn?

Strawberries, Cherries and an Angel's Kiss in Spring

A late Summer inspired look perfect for a casual date night...

Dressing for this time of year can often leave one in a slight predicament, if you had of listened to the weather reports over the last few weeks then all your summer clothes will have been neatly stored away until next year, however Summer isn't going as quietly as some predicted, this past week has seen some gorgeous English weather so I thought I would put a late Summer inspired look together.

Cropped top - Asos
Skirt - Asos
Hat - H&M
Shoes - H&M
Bag - Primark
Jewellery - Topshop/ New Look
Nail Varnish - The Body Shop Minty Amour

Heartbreaker

Just a little outfit post for you today, I was heading up to London yesterday and needed an outfit that I wouldn't get too hot in during the day but that would keep me warm enough to watch the football in the evening, I chose my Asos floral skirt and Asos Heartbreaker tee which is such a nice fit, and paired it with black tights and H&M lace pumps. I took my trust Pull & Bear jacket, it's so lightweight you can just chuck it in your bag but at the same time it keeps you super cosy. My jewellery is from Snoppers Attic in Brighton lanes. I have been loving Asos recently, there is so much to choose from including lots of high street brands.

Are you an Asos fan?

Puffy Eyes Be Gone

It's Saturday today and I have no doubt that some of you will be waking up tomorrow morning, or afternoon, looking a little worse for wear after the night before, let's face it we have all been there. I think I may have found the cure for those unattractive puffy dark zombie eyes at long last, enter the 'Anatomicals Puffy the Eye Bag Slayer Wake-up Under Eye Patches' I received these in a recent GlossyBox and I have to admit they have been sat patiently in my 'awaiting testing' box for what seems like ages but the other day after a late night I was in need of a little pick me up so I thought it would be the perfect time to test these out.

Make sure you apply these to a cleansed and dry face, and place under the eye making sure they go on nice and smooth and leave on for thirty minutes, they leave your under eye area feeling so refreshed and reduce dark circles and puffiness. They are seriously easy to use, I like to wear them during a long soak in the bath tub, just make sure you don't get your face wet.

Have you tried these yet?

The Accessories Post

In my opinion accessories are the most important part of the outfit, they can transform the most simple dress into a real statement, I've already done a post about my favourite statement necklaces, which you can find here. I thought I would share with you some of my other key pieces for this season. First up is a bundle of bracelets from Pull and Bear, I first heard about this brand from Asos which is where these bracelets are from, since then I have visited the Pull and Bear shop in Brighton and they have some lovely pieces in stock, anyway back to accessories, these bracelets have a real tribal feel about them, there's a mixture of stones and colours that create a beautiful bit of arm candy, I like splitting the set between my two arms and pairing them with a few of my other bracelets just to give the set a little more individuality, I also like wearing these with my River Island finger rings, the set of two cost just three pounds and they have lasted really well so far, no green fingers as of yet!

Another accessory I have been religiously carrying around with me is my Whistles clutch, this is actually listed on their site as a make up bag but for me it is the perfect size for a night out, it is spacious enough to hold the essentials, you know - keys, card, phone, lipstick, but it is small enough to look chic and non bulky. It goes with everything too, it's black on one side and grey on the other, you can also get these in lots of other shades, there's a gorgeous mint blue one that I have had my eye on for a while.

Lastly is my newest addition to my shoe collection, these pretty olive green suede like brogues are absolutely perfect, again I picked these up on the Asos website and when they arrived they looked even better than they did online. Having a bright shoe means all you need is a classic smock dress and you instantly look well styled and put together, easy chic if you will.

What are your favourite ways to finish off an outfit?

The Velvet Smock Dress

This ASOS smock dress has to be a combination of all the trends I am currently loving, I love the paisley pattern on the velvet fabric, on paper it sounds hideous but in reality it is such a beautiful design. This is a real statement piece so I have been keeping the rest of my ensembles featuring this dress fairly minimal, think classic blazer and ballerina pumps. I wasn't sure about the smock dress shape at first, I was a little worried it would sit kinda tent shape on the body but it is actually very flattering, I can see this working on lots of different body shapes.

ASOS have lots of different designs too if you are after something a little plainer. The great thing about these type of dresses is that they are so comfortable to wear, throw on your leather jacket and Chelsea boots for the daytime and dress it up with heels and bracelets for the evening.

What do you think of the Smock dress?

A Little Update

I have been so busy with work during the festive period it hasn't left much time for me to dedicate to my little blog lately so I thought I would give you an update. Recently Luca and I went to Jamie's Italian in Brighton for dinner, we chose from the Christmas menu and the food was absolutely gorgeous. I wore my Asos velvet smock dress which I am in love with, I think it is the perfect winter dress. Make up wise I went for a neutral eye with a bold lip using 107 from the Kate Moss collection from Rimmel London. As for accessorizes I took my trusty Whistles clutch that goes with just about anything and a butterfly wing pendant that I made, I am thinking of selling these if anyone is interested, they come in so many beautiful colours and they were inspired bu Damien Hurst's butterfly room at the Tate Modern last summer.

What have you been up to lately?
