Revlon's New Lip Moisture Stains

With lots of amazing lip launches recently on the high street I knew it wouldn't be long until Revlon bought something new to the table... Enter the Revlon Moisture Stains.

If there is one thing I cannot get enough of it is lip products, there are so many different formulas, finishes and shades to choose from that you can never have too many. When I read about the new Revlon Moisture Stains being released I couldn't resist picking up a few, I was hoping these would be a more moisturising version of the Bourjois Velvet Lipsticks, which I love by the way but a more glossy formula would be perfection. I went for the shades Cannes Crush - a pretty everyday coral shade with the right amount of orange and pink tones, and Parisian Passion - a deep, dark purple that will look perfect paired with a neutral eye look and fresh skin.

These go on very glossy in a rather sheer way so be prepared to layer it up for a real colour impact. The formula is definitely buildable with a glass like shine finish. The applicator is slightly pointed making it easy to get a neat finish, and the packaging is really sleek, again very similar to the Bourjois Velvet range. The lasting power of the moisture stains is impressive considering the glossy finish.

These are now available at an introductory price of £5.99 at Superdrug.

New Favourites - Beauty #2

Check out the new additions to my beauty collection that I have instantly fallen in love with...

This week I have been trying out a lot of new products and I have instantly fallen in love with quite a few, first up is a fragrance, I have been looking for a summer time scent ever since the weather improved, I wanted something fresh and long lasting so I picked up the Hugo Boss Orange Sunset Eau De Toilette from Boots, the fragrance has a base of creamy sandalwood combined with vanilla with feminine notes of rose and fresh notes of bergamot and mandarin. It is a very distinct scent, and one that lasts all day. Another beautifully smelling product I have been loving is the Korres Fig shower gel, this lathers up really well and unlike other body washes I have tried the scent of the freshly cut figs can be smelt for ages after washing. The Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate has also made my list, it has been keeping my lips in great condition with its super moisturizing properties, It is also slightly coloured so recently this has been my go to lip product, I also love wearing this over the top of my Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick for a more wearable everyday look.

Skincare wise I have completely overhauled my routine, more on that later, but I thought I would mention the Eucerin Dermo Purifyer Cleanser*, this is specially formulated for blemish prone or oily skin, now touch wood my blemishes are ok at the moment but I do get oily during the day so I thought this would be great to try. You apply this to wet skin and massage into the skin in circular motions removing make up and excess sebum, since using this I have found myself powdering a lot less and the anti bacterial properties in the cleanser mean I am less likely to get blemishes, so a big thumbs up from me!

A new foundation now and this is one I have been constantly wearing since purchasing it, the Revlon Colourstay for oily/combination skin is perfect for long days when you need your foundation to last, for my perfect shade I have been mixing 'Early Tan' and 'Sand Beige' the two combined create my base. The finish is matte but not cakey and it feels lightweight at the same time as being medium to full coverage. Last but not least is the No.7 Instant Radiance Bronzing Highlighter, I read a lot of great reviews for the Radiance Highlighter so when I saw No.7 had released a bronzing version I knew I needed it in my collection. This looks stunning swept across the cheekbones for a bronzed goddess look, but I have also been loving using this as a contour, the shade is definitely dark enough to create a shadow and the shimmer adds a little glow to the skin.

What are some of your new favourites? Have you tried anything recently and instantly fallen in love?

*this product was sent to me for review, this in no way effects my opinion.

My Current Everyday Make Up Routine

Fluttery lashes, fresh skin, a natural brow and a bold lip, get the low down on my everyday make up look...

Over the past few weeks I have been really enjoying wearing a bold lip in the daytime, lip statements shouldn't just be for nights out. My go to bold lip product has to be the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in the shade Frambourjoise - a vibrant matte raspberry hue that is super opaque and long lasting making it a great choice for a work day as you don't need to worry too much about touch ups. I sometimes pop a little balm over the top if I want a more glossy sheen to my lips, my go to's at the moment are the Korres Lip Balm in Pomegranate and my beloved baby lips.

Skin wise I have been keeping it simple with just a little foundation, I have been testing out the Revlon Colourstay for Oily/Combination skin and I have to say so far I am loving it, I will keep you updated with how I am getting on with the formula - review on it's way! I have been using the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush for my foundation application and the finish it gives is very natural, the brush is a lot denser than my usual choice - the Real Techniques Buffing Brush, and since purchasing my Sigma brush my Real Techniques one hasn't got a look in. Onto blush - usually I go for a natural flush by applying it to the cheekbone but recently I have been stippling it onto the apples of my cheeks and the overall look is so flattering, for this I have been using the Bourjois Cream Blush in the shade Healthy Glow, a warm peach shade with a cream to powder finish, the texture of this is very velvety and it blends perfectly.

For my brows I have been keeping things natural with Soap and Glory's Archery - a double ended pencil/felt tip duo that creates natural yet defined brows, I posted a review not long ago if you fancy a read? (Soap and Glory Archery Review Here) To finish off my day time look I apply a few individual lashes and give my face a dusting of the Bourjois Java Rice Powder which makes my skin look radiant and gives a nice glow.

What's your favourite daytime look at the moment?

Favourite Primers

Do you find your foundation doesn't seem to last all day? Skip primer? If you answered yes, keep reading...

I never used to use a face primer, but since I have started to include it into my basic everyday routine I have found my make up lasts so much longer. My daytime primer is from the Superdrug Naturally Radiant range, marketed as a Brightening Radiance Balm I am not entirely sure this is even a primer but to me it does the same job - it gives your foundation something to hang on to as well as illuminating the skin giving a healthy glow. This sinks into the skin so well, it feels more of a skincare step than a make up one. The balm is infused with plant extracts so it smells great. The whole Naturally Radiant range is wonderful, try the Hot Cloth Cleanser if you are looking for a budget Liz Earle dupe!

Nights out take primer to a whole other level of dewy, the Revlon Photoready Skinlights in Bare Light is my go to, when you first pop this onto the skin it looks very illuminating, almost to the point of being a tad scary, but apply your foundation over the top and I promise you will fall in love. I wanted this product for ages after seeing Kate from Gh0stParties rave about it, it perfects the skin so once your foundation is applied not only do you look radiant but your pores appear reduced and your skin looks as if it has a soft focus filter on it.

Will you be adding this essential step to your routine? What are some of your favourite primers?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

"Because being with the Plastics was like being famous... people looked at you all the time and and everybody just knew stuff about you" ... "I saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip flops so I bought army pants and flip flops"

Recently I have been wearing a lot of pink, usually I go for coral shades for my blush and lip products but after sorting through my make up I noticed I had quite a few unloved beauty's and after making a conscious effort to include them into my routine I can safely say I may have been converted to pink as my go to shade, also I have to admit to being slightly inspired by the whole Mean Girls ten year anniversary, seeing 'On Wednesdays we wear pink' quoted all over the inter web definitely helped.
First up is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in Rose Neon, this is a bright bold pink with a slight cool undertone, the formula is super moisturising and lasts for a god four hours on the lips, it is also really pigmented giving you opaque colour that sticks around. I love this shade if I want a bright pop of colour, I wear this with a neutral played down eye so the lipstick gets all the attention. If I want something more matte I use the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Unapologetic, again this is a real neon pink, it's a little more warm toned so this looks great if I am rocking a bit of a glow. My first blush pick is the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in So Pretty, I talked about my love for this in a recent post but I just can't stop talking about it! I am so in love with the formula, it gives the skin a beautiful radiant appearance, the shimmer acts as a highlighter and the stunning pale pink gives the skin a healthy complexion. Finally is the Revlon Baby Stick in Pink Passion for cheeks and lips, I find this slightly drying on the lips but on the cheeks this product works wonders, although the shade looks bold and bright, once applied this looks so natural, the formula is creamy and I find it is best applied with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush as the bristles are well compacted.

So will you be embracing Pink when it comes to your make up? What is your ultimate Pink Lipstick? Let me know in the comments below!

Shaking Up My Make Up Routine

I recently changed up my everyday make up routine, it is good to try out different products and formulas once in a while, the purchase that convinced me to change my base was the L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour foundation, when it comes to make up for the day I like my foundation to be long lasting so seeing 24 hour in the product description got me hooked, I chose the shade 'Golden Sand' which suits me really well, It is a full coverage foundation that gives the skin a radiant look without being too dewy, it isn't too matte either so it sits right in the middle with a satin like finish. True to its name this foundation is long lasting, I can't say if it would last the whole 24 hours, who wears make up for that long? I have stuck with my trusty Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Medium Cool, this helps to conceal dark circles and blemishes.

For a natural eye look I have been using the MUA pallet in Undressed, this pallet is packed with pretty shimmering neutral shades for a subtle look. Benefit's Coralista has wiggled its way back into my make up bag, this is just about the prettiest blush I own and it has the right amount of shimmer for a daytime look. For the lips I have been reaching for Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in the shade 'Lovers Coral' this is super sheer and leaves my lips looking naturally tinted with a little shine, the formula is really nourishing too, the only downside is that it doesn't stick around for long but It is a delight to apply so I am not too bothered.

How often do you change your routine? Or are you stuck in a bit of a beauty rut?

An Ode to Revlon

Revlon have always been one of my favourite high street brands, the Photoready foundation is my go to for my everyday base and their recent blush releases are gorgeous, I recently picked up a few new products in the Boots three for two offer as you do, after reading so many good things about the Photoready Skin Lights Face Illuminator I knew I needed it for my collection, I chose the shade 'Bare Lights' as it looked like a perfect match for my skin tone, the other shades were either too pinky or too golden, this shade has a beautiful pearlescent sheen to it which gives the skin a really radiant finish and helps to create the perfect base when worn under foundation.

I also picked up the Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick in 'Torch Incendiaire', I thought this would be the perfect product for an on the go smokey eye, the formula is really creamy and blendable, I love using the nude shade on my brow bone as a highlight and the darker shade under the eye for a subtle smokey effect. My last purchase took me a while to choose and I walked out of Boots with an arm full of Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm swatches, I eventually settled on the shade 'Unapologetic'  - a bright neon pink, I felt my collection was missing a statement pink until I got this bad boy, the formula is really long lasting and for a matte product my lips stay nice and hydrated whilst wearing this, I like to pair this with a neutral eye and classic cat flick liner.

I cannot wait to see what Revlon bring out next, they have been so impressive as of late. What have been some of your favourites?

The Winter Make Up Bag

Like most girls I like to carry my make up essentials with me so I can freshen up my complexion during the day or take my make up from day to night, so I thought I would let you in on my current on the go must haves, lets start with the base, I have been loving Bourjois Happy Light foundation (review here) recently, it gives such a flawless finish to the skin and shade 53 suits me perfectly. I rarely need to use this during the day but I know the day I don't take it will be the day I need it, as you can tell I have become rather attached to the latest addition to my foundation family.

Something I do use without fail is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, this really brightens my under eye area and definitely makes me look more awake. The Body Shops Energizing Facial Spritz is another must, this re-freshes my base and stops it looking cakey - this can happen if I layer new product over old product or if I use too much. To finish my base and keep oil at bay I powder my t-zone with Bourjois Java Rice Powder (review here) this works wonders on the skin.

For a little colour I like to use a lip product, a lot easier than trying to create a dramatic smokey eye in the office, for a natural look I like Revlon's Balm Stain in Rendezvous, for a little more drama I use Rimmel's Kate Moss Lipstick in 107, the perfect sexy deep red that looks so chic with cat eye style liner.

What are your on the go must haves?

The Lightweight Base

After my last post on foundation I started to think more about my base, I have a lot of different lightweight products including beauty balms and tinted moisturisers, but which ones would I recommend? Lets see...
First up is the Perfect Look Skin Miracle by This Works, I wanted this product for ages, it is a tinted moisturiser that contains hyaluronic acid for long lasting hydration, the caramel and mica provide a subtle glowy tint to the skin and keep coverage very minimal, I find this to be so gentle on the skin and lightweight it really does feel like skincare as opposed to make up. Next is the Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm, like the this works moisturiser this only comes in one shade, I find it blends into my skin well and the advanced water technology helps keep the skin hydrated, as this is a BB cream I find this to be light to medium coverage so it is perfect for an everyday base. The Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in medium is also great for an everyday base, this covers any blemishes and evens the skin tone giving a natural finish. Lastly we have the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation, this is the most lightweight high street foundation I have tried and I love it, it does just the right amount of concealing without being to cakey or heavy on the skin. If you are looking for a more lightweight everyday base then get yourselves down to Boots where all the above products are available for you to swatch.

This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle £28 for 30ml.
Dr Jart + Water Fuse Beauty Balm £18 for 50ml.
Garnier BB Cream £9.99 for 50ml.
Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation £8.99 for 30ml.

Bourjois Bronzing Primer

It's no secret that I like the sun-kissed just stepped off a plane look, so any product with bronze in the title has me from the start. When I first read about the Bourjois Paris Bronzing Primer I was a tad excited to say the least and as soon as it was released I bought it. I'm a little lazy when it comes to primer but I have found myself reaching for this product a lot. It has all the qualities of other primers I have tried; it smooths out skins texture with a velvet finish, it mattifies and helps your make up stick around all day. But whereas most primers are colourless, this one gives a lovely bronzed glow to the skin. The pot it comes in makes it easy to get just the right amount of product, you really only need a little, I smooth it on with my fingers and then make sure it is all blended with my Real Techniques Expert face brush. You can wear this alone, or under foundation.

I like pairing this with the Revlon Photo Ready Foundation, I love this foundation for nights out but I find it doesn't stay around for long, but when I use it in conjunction with my primer it lasts a lot longer. The two together give a really flawless, matte finish with a lovely sun kissed glow.

Have you tried the Bronzing Primer yet?

On The Go Make Up Essentials

You know the feeling.. You have gone to work in a hurry, overslept, or just completely forgotten to do your make up, which may be ok with you but then you realize you have a lunch date and are looking a bit worse for wear? No fear.. the back up supplies are here!

Now we don't need to go overboard here, we want something that says natural and fresh so I am starting by a good brow tidy up, for this I use the Barry M Clear Mascara and Eyebrow Definer, this is great for neatening up those face framers. Looking tired? Try the Maybelline Instant Anti Age The Eraser Eye concealer, this brightens the eye area and covers any dark circles, it also doesn't sit in any of those little fine lines. This can also be used to conceal any redness or blemishes.

The next step is a little bronzing powder and my weapon of choice is of course the Nars Laguna powder, which gives a nice natural contour and warms up the skin tone. Need a little powder to banish un-wanted shine? I turn to the Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Banana, I find this is very light and not at all cakey if I apply it with the Real Techniques powder brush. Finally I apply the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous for a 'my lips but better' shade.

Now you can fully enjoy that lunch date knowing you look great!

What are your touch up make up staples?

Everyday Face

Just thought I would do a little post about the make-up that makes the cut for the 'Everyday Face'. I work five days a week and don't get home until after six so long lasting make-up is a must for me. I also go the gym after work and don't want to look too done up so this is a pretty basic "no make up" look.

For my base I start with Revlon's Nearly Naked Foundation in the shade natural beige, I apply this with my fingers and the Real Techniques Buffing brush for a my skin but better finish. This foundation is low to medium coverage and it is buildable. It evens out my skin tone nicely. If I am looking particularly tired then I like to use Rimmel's Wake Me Up Concealer which I find illuminates my under eyes and makes me look alot more human.

I like to fill my eyebrows in a little with the HD Brows palette using the shade Rich Brown, I find a stronger eyebrow look really suits me and helps to frame my face, on the lashes I just put a few slicks of the L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara to make my eyes look bigger.

For contouring I love Nars Laguna Bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks, the colour of this product is perfect for intensifying the cheekbone area, it isn't too sparkly like other bronzers I have tried either. For that fresh awake look I think blusher is a must, like Kate from gh0stparties.com I apply this to the top of my cheekbones as opposed to the apples as it suits my face shape more. For an everyday blusher I am currently using Revlon's Baby Stick Lip and Cheek Tint in the shade Pink Passion and I apply this using the Real Techniques Stippling Brush.

To finish off the look I use Revlon's Balm Stain Just Bitten Kissable in the colour Rendezvous which is a peachy pink with a slight sheen, this product was also featured in my top lip products post 'On The Lips'.
This look takes only a few minutes to apply and it sticks around all day.
