Union Jacks - Covent Garden

Whilst in London, Luca took me out for dinner in Covent Garden. i had never been there before so i was really looking forward to it. After looking around and watching some street performances, we sat down at Union Jacks, Jamie Oliver's restaurant. The menu had a real British feel with steaks, fish and chips and homemade ginger beer. We both went for pizza, Luca had an onion and pork pizza and I went for the mushroom, both were lovely. We also ordered homemade cloudy lemonade which seems to be my favourite drink at the moment.

I can't wait to go back to Covent Garden, have you eaten at Union Jacks?

New Purchases From Essie

After looking through my humble Essie Lacquer collection the other day I decided I need to step away from neutrals and deep reds and get slightly more adventurous.I spent ages in Superdrug deliberating over colours, I don't know whether you've noticed but Essie's shade range is huge and picking between two coral colours that are only slightly different can seriously slow down the whole shopping experience. In the end I went for Chubby Cheeks, a delicious reddy coral shade that is a lot less orange than say Tart Deco. This looks really nice against my skin tone and helps to liven up my look. The other colour I chose was Sew Psyched, when I try to describe this it doesn't sound great; it's a dull light army style colour, but I mean that in the nicest possible way because this has become my new favourite Essie Lacquer. It is just so wearable!

The Accessory: The Floral Crown

They were big last summer and they have been even more prominent this time around, flower headpieces are a real ode to the 60's with their hippy vibe, so when it came to Carnival time this year I dug out my little collection. I much prefer the more delicate ones I have, I picked most of these up from a street seller in Brighton, the high street shops are loving this trend too, my large red and pink flower crown is from Topshop would you believe!

For the carnival I settled on my newest purchase from Beyond Retro which has a real bridal look to it with all the pearls and pretty pastel purple shades, It was actually priced wrong and I ended up paying only £1!! After a little alteration it was Notting Hill ready! If you fancy making your own you could always check out the Nouvelle Daily website, they recently did a brilliant tutorial for a white rose floral crown.

Raspberry and Basil Infused Lemonade

If you follow my blog you will know that not long ago I went fruit picking, I did get slightly carried away on the raspberry front though and had far too many for eating so I decided to get a little creative and whip up a delicious summer beverage. You could easily do this with shop bought lemonade or you could make a homemade one with sugar, water and lemons. All you need in raspberries and basil. Crush your raspberries slightly and add all ingredients together in a bottle. Your lemonade will soon turn into a beautiful bright pink liquid that tastes incredible, the basil adds a lovely flavour. I found it wasn't as fizzy as normal lemonade, and poured over ice it made more of a refreshing summer drink.

Favourite Perfumes

I thought it was about time I shared two of my favourite perfumes with you, I always wear perfume, for work it is normally something like The Body Shop eau de toilette's or the rub on sticks they do in Lush (Karma smells amazing!) For something a little more special though I like to turn to one of the following:

Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche - This is such a beautiful scent, it is so fresh and light, not at all heavy. This is great for the summertime with its floral notes. This really lasts as well, so you ends up getting good value for your money. The bottle is really sleek and sophisticated, well it is Chanel.

50ml eau de toilette £52 available here

Molecule 01 Escentric Molecules - This was my first ever Cult Beauty purchase, after reading a few reviews I couldn't resist putting it in my online basket. Molecule 01 is created from one aroma chemical, Iso E Super, this chemical is normally used in perfumes as an alluring base note with its woody, velvety scent. This chemical works with your body's natural scents to create something different on everyone. It is like having your very own bespoke fragrance. Unlike the Chanel, I can't really smell this one myself, but it is the fragrance I get the most compliments on.

100ml £65.50 available here

Pick Your Own Farming

A little while ago I decided a day in the sunshine was needed, working in an office five days a week can give you slight cabin fever so a jaunt into the big outdoors was more than welcome. I had never been fruit picking before, so when we drove past a 'Pick Your Own' farm near where I live I was pretty excited. The idea of being self sufficient is something that really interests me, I have always wanted a vegetable patch at the bottom of my garden, to be able to wonder into the garden mid bolognese to grab some fresh herbs is something I can only dream of at the moment since I don't have a garden of my own yet. Any way where was I? ..

When we arrived at the farm we noticed the little Tea Room where we had breakfast, tea and cake.

Afterwards we headed into the wide open fields to find some fruity treats. The first things we came across were the raspberries, now I know you are not meant to eat them until you have washed them and paid of course but they just looked too good! We also got some sweetcorn, carrots, and broccoli. I was slightly apprehensive about it being a lot more expensive than Tesco's as it is all local produce but it actually worked out much cheaper! Our little box came to a tiny total of £2 something.
